What is AI Visibility?
AI Visibility is a brand's ability to be found, understood and cited by AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude when someone asks a question about its market. It takes three things: content AI crawlers can reach (static HTML), semantic structure backed by structured data, and verifiable authority — named authors, dates and sources.
In one sentence
AI Visibility is what "ranking on the first page of Google" was to traditional search, except an AI answer carries 3 to 5 citations, not ten positions.
How is AI Visibility measured in practice?
Measurement starts with a set of target questions clients would actually put to an assistant. You then log, month after month, which ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Copilot answers cite the brand, in what position and with what framing. That log becomes the citation rate. A single answer proves nothing, because selection is not deterministic: the same question can return different sources on two consecutive runs.
The result is then read against the four factors that decide citation: factual density (a statistic, entity or date roughly every 100 words), structured schema such as Article and FAQPage, where the answer sits on the page, and static HTML an AI crawler can read. The last one is a prerequisite, not a bonus. If the crawler never reaches the page, the other three never get evaluated.
The ReBo framework turns that reading into four levels: Level 1 — Invisible to AI, Level 2 — Partially Discoverable, Level 3 — AI Friendly and Level 4 — AI Reference. Most Brazilian financial firms sit at Level 1, and the cause is almost always technical rather than editorial.

Frequently asked questions
Is AI Visibility the same as SEO?
No. SEO competes for positions on a results page; AI Visibility competes for citations inside AI-generated answers, where only 3 to 5 sources make the cut. The selection factors differ: semantic structure, factual density and verifiable authority carry more weight.
Which AI systems count for AI Visibility?
The main ones are ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google Gemini (AI Overviews), Claude and Microsoft Copilot. Each runs its own crawler and its own retrieval source, but all of them favor structured, readable HTML.
Where do asset managers most often go wrong with AI Visibility?
Three mistakes repeat. They treat it as SEO under a new name, so the budget chases rankings instead of citations. They buy a monitoring tool and expect it to produce citations, when the tool only measures them. And they leave the work without an owner, split between marketing, IT and investor relations, so nothing ships. Publishing the research as a PDF is the technical version of the same problem.
